Who We Are

PAWS-MONTCLAIR was founded 30 years ago. We are a non-profit organization, with 501(c)3 status. PAWS is dedicated to finding homes for the unwanted cats and dogs in our community. We are proud to have one of the highest adoption rates amongst the many animal shelters in New Jersey.

We are supported solely by donations and animal control contracts with 2 neighboring towns. 100% of all donations go directly to the shelter. NO fundraisers are ever paid.

Adopting a Friend

To ensure our animals are placed in good homes all applicants are thoroughly screened and we do follow-up calls and visits. All adopted cats and dogs are given a 10 day health guarantee, providing the adopter uses the veterinarian we select. Please click here for more information on the application process.

We urge you to come visit our shelter. We have so many cats and dogs waiting to find homes. You may meet you perfect companion!

PAWS is open from Noon-4 p.m.7 days a week, 365 days a year!

PAWS will now be open on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. for Cat Adoptions.  We will only be there for adoptions; we will not accept any new animals. For further information, call Kathi at (973) 239-0054
